@ The Gallery Space, Friday, |
Tales Of The DecongestedTakes place at The Gallery Space, 2nd Floor, Foyles Bookshop, 113-119 Charing Cross Road, on the last Friday of every month. Entrance is £3, £2.50 concessions (tickets that include wine are a little more). We feature established writers from time to time (Ali Smith, Nicholas Royle, Stella Duffy among others), but our primary objective is to raise the profile of the short story and to discover exciting new talent in London. We all know it's there; it's high time it was heard. Short Story Festival - Saturday April 5th 2008 - News and downloads Tales of the DeCongested has been running since 2004, to celebrate these four successful years of readings Tales of the DeCongested teamed up with Apis Books to bring you a free, one day Short Story Festival, hosted by Foyles and sponsored by Booktrust as part of Get London Reading 2008. The day was a great success, kicking off at 10am with readings from Prospect Magazine and a Bucks Fizz Breakfast, thanks to Lanson Champagne. There were readings, promotions from literary magazines, a workshop, a panel discussion about the short story and a special festival edition of Tales of the DeCongested in the evening. Over 36 authors took part, with audiences of 200 plus. The whole event was recorded by Sam Horrocks and downloads and soundbites from the day are available on our news page. The Short Story Festival also marked the launch of Apis Books' latest title, Desperate Remedies, a selection of stories from six new and exciting authors: Shaun Levin, Paul Blaney, Margot Stedman, Adam Elston, Mark Saba and Guy Ware. You can find out more about Desperate Remedies at apisbooks.com Thank you to the Booktrust, Foyles, all the wonderful contributors and those who turned up to listen. We hope to run another Festival next year, so do keep your eyes open. |
