Tales Of The Decongested

Takes place at The Gallery Space, 3nd Floor, Foyles Bookshop, 113-119 Charing Cross Road, on the last Friday of every month. Entrance is £3, £2.50 concessions (tickets that include wine are a little more).

We hope to feature established writers from time to time, but our primary objective is to raise the profile of the short story and to discover exciting new talent in London. We all know it's there; it's high time it was heard.

Dear Short Story Lovers,

after five fabulous years of Tales of the DeCongested, Paul and Rebekah feel the time has come for new faces, fresh energy and ideas to take the event forward. We are seeking a team of two or more people interested in taking over the event.

If you think you might be interested in running this high profile event at a leading independent bookshop, please email us at tales@decongested.com. Think of it as a proposal, of a rather informal variety. We'd especially like to hear what new ideas you have, what you like about the existing event, and what you think you might change.

We'll give careful consideration and respond to all and any proposals. In due course, we'd also like to meet our potential successors. After five years you tend to get a bit possessive. We'd like to be sure we're passing the baby on to the very best of new parents!

Tales Of The Decongested is fuelled by your story submissions. If your story is selected, you will be asked to come along and read it (or get a friend to read it for you) at our next event, and it will be added to the story archive on this website. In due course, and as funds permit, we'd like to arrange for the publication of an anthology.

The first priority, however, is to get the reading events on the road and make them the talk of literary London. We can't do this on our own. We need your involvement. So please send us your stories, come to the readings, and tell all your friends.
